Retreat Proposal

A summary description of new retreats being requested to add to the slate of Men’s Knitting Retreats.
Each of the regional Men’s Knitting Retreats is autonomous and independently produced by volunteer coordinators. We are all about supporting guys who want to create a Men’s Knitting Retreat for themselves. As a form of umbrella organization, we can possibly provide start-up groups with:
– Web presence and promotional support
– Guidance and advice with:
– Selecting a venue
– Registering participants
– Soliciting sponsors
– Creating an agenda of ice breakers, workshops and local area visits

Please complete the following form to the best of your ability. If some of the answers aren’t fully determined, you can respond that you are researching, waiting for an answer, etc.

Acceptance of Men’s Knitting Retreat Principles:
Principles of The Men’s Knitting Retreats While not hard and fast rules, we found that it was easier to establish some basic tenets about all retreats so that men’s knitting retreats around the World would have some level of consistency and the general experience of the guys who attend different retreats would be similar. The purpose of the Men’s Knitting Retreats is to provide an opportunity for men with an interest in any or all fiber crafts to gather and experience the community and fraternity of like-minded men in beautiful setting. The following is a list of suggestions for the retreats:
1. The retreats are for men only. Anyone who self-identifies as a man is eligible to participate in the event.
2. The retreats are self-supporting and self-managed by self-designated coordinators and the participants. While having outside organizations sponsor portions of the retreats is acceptable, those organizations should have no say in how the retreat is conducted.
3. The retreats are ideally not-for-profit and not-for-loss.
