2023 Men's Fall Knitting Retreat (Seattle Area)

Labor Day Weekend is the traditional date for the Men’s Fall Knitting Retreat and we will again host the retreat at the Dumas Bay Center in Federal Way, WA (just south of Seattle).

Dumas Bay no longer provides on-site catering. A light continental breakfast will be offered each day, and for lunches and dinner we will be using an external catering service again this year. As always, we will make every effort to accommodate specific dietary requests and allergies.

We will be able to offer at least one scholarship this year. Please e-mail your scholarship nominations to

To guarantee a spot, your registration must be received before Friday, August 11. Because of the catering logistics for this year’s retreat, there will be no late registrations after this date, and no refunds can be offered after August 1 – 30 days prior to the start of the event.

Here is a brief schedule:

Thursday, you can arrive at Pretty Lake Camp any time after 1:00 pm.  Lunch is on your own.  We then will head out around 5:30 pm to arrive at 6:00 pm at Chicks with Sticks yarn store in Portage, MI.  We will eat a home-cooked Lasagna meal and shop for yarn.  When we are done there, we travel back to Pretty Lake Camp.

Friday and Saturday, a possible field trip and as always, we will have a Show and Tell, so bring your finished objects to show off!

Sunday, we will take a group picture and have a discussion that I like to call The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly where we reflect on the weekend and find out what worked and what didn’t so that I can make next year the best retreat in history.

On the day of Registration, you will get a link to the Registration form.  After you fill out the form, you will receive invoice showing how much you need to send and the address to send it.  Any payments not received (or arrangements not made), within 30 days, your spot will be given to the next person on the waiting list.

We will take the first 16 guys who register, then start a wait list.  This year, we will again offer one scholarship spot.
